Allyson Felix, the world's most decorated female track and field athlete, has revealed plans to emerge from retirement and compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics at the age of 42. A native of Los Angeles, Felix is eager to participate in her sixth Olympic Games if she qualifies. Having retired after the 2021 Tokyo Olympics with an impressive 11 Olympic medals, Felix was drawn back by the prospect of competing in a home Games. In a recent interview with TIME magazine, Felix expressed her desire to defy expectations and push beyond her limits.
'Why not take a chance and go for it?' she said. 'I'd regret it if I didn't at least try.' Felix is aware that her spot at the LA Games is not guaranteed and will have to navigate the challenging US track and field qualification system.
