Welsh rugby icon George North has revealed plans to retire from the sport at the end of the current season. North, 34, first donned the Welsh jersey as a teenager in 2010, launching a storied career that began with the Scarlets and later saw him join Northampton Saints in 2013, where he clinched the Premiership title.
A versatile back, North went on to play for Ospreys from 2018 to 2023, before making the move to French club Provence. Having retired from international rugby in 2024 with an impressive 121 caps for Wales, North also had the distinction of touring with the British and Irish Lions twice. He ranks third on the all-time list for most appearances for Wales and is the country's second-highest try scorer with 47 tries.
In a heartfelt video message posted on social media, North expressed his gratitude, stating, "The time feels right for me to retire. I've been fortunate enough to live my dream, playing alongside incredible players, coaches, and support staff for many seasons." North extended his thanks to his family, friends, and fans for their unwavering support, acknowledging that it has meant the world to him. As he embarks on the next chapter of his journey, North expressed excitement for what the future holds.
