Welcome to the second edition of my Captain's Corner! This season I will be chronicling my experience as the European Solheim Cup captain, from the early preparations right through to the competition itself, which will be hosted in the Netherlands for the first time from September 7 to 13.
The golf calendar is already in full swing, and we have just wrapped up the year’s opening major, the Chevron Championship in Texas, where many of our European ladies delivered impressive performances. Early movements in the Rolex Rankings have already begun to reshape the leaderboard, and a variety of players have shown strong form. With four more majors looming on the horizon and a significant points haul on the line, the race to secure a spot on the Solheim Cup team promises to become even more intense as the season progresses.

Last week, the PING Europe apparel team joined us at the Chevron Championship for what could be the first trial fitting of the new player and caddie uniforms. Over the past three Solheim Cups we have collaborated closely with PING Europe, and that partnership has streamlined the fitting process considerably.
Their team is receptive to our feedback and eager to fine‑tune the cuts, fabrics, and overall look to match our preferences. While the final outfits will remain a surprise until the squads arrive in the Netherlands, I was given a behind‑the‑scenes look at the accessories we selected, the material palettes, the colour schemes, and a few playful extras we are still polishing. We are currently locking in the official attire for the Gala Dinner scheduled for the Wednesday of Solheim Cup week, as well as the ensemble we will wear for the Opening Ceremony. In addition, we are working with a Dutch design firm to create a special piece that I think the players will love.
I can already tell a few of the team members—including my vice‑captains, Mel and Carro—that there will be no dresses this year, which should be a relief for those who prefer a more relaxed dress code. Behind the scenes, conversations continue with the players, their caddies, and the broader support staff. Zoom has become an indispensable tool for coordinating these discussions, allowing us to keep everyone informed despite the busy travel schedules. The excitement surrounding this Solheim Cup year is palpable; it feels as though every conversation I have inevitably circles back to the tournament.
Balancing my duties as an active tour player with the responsibilities of captain has been a demanding juggling act. I am grateful for the unwavering support from the Ladies European Tour, the LPGA, and my management team, all of whom have helped me navigate this dual role. Being on this journey alongside the competitors is precisely why I accepted the captaincy. It grants me a unique perspective—watching the players from within the ropes, sharing moments with them, and gaining insights that only a teammate can provide.
