Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk has lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport following a four-year doping ban imposed by the Football Association. The ban stems from a positive test for the prohibited substance meldonium, which Mudryk claims was due to sample contamination during his international duty with Ukraine in October 2024. Having been provisionally suspended in December 2024, Mudryk maintains his innocence and has been training with personal trainers away from Chelsea's facilities. The club will allow the appeal process to unfold.
Mudryk was signed by Chelsea for £88m in January 2023 and has five years remaining on his contract. His last appearance for Chelsea was in November 2024. If the appeal is unsuccessful, Mudryk's suspension would effectively rule him out of competition until the end of 2028, dealing a significant blow to both the player and the club.
