Trained by Karl Burke and owned by Wathnan Racing, the son of Dark Angel had previously been well-regarded but had not won since 2024. Following a gelding procedure over the winter, Night Raider demonstrated significant improvement, handling the preliminaries at Newmarket calmly and achieving a half-length win at 9-1. The market leader, Rumstar, finished half a length behind.
Burke attributed the improvement to the gelding procedure, stating it had a profound positive effect on the horse, making him 10 kilos lighter and more composed. Night Raider's victory has set him up for potential future races, including the King Charles III Stakes at Ascot. Meanwhile, other notable performances included Erzindjan's win in the Betfred Suffolk Stakes and Andrew Balding's double with Flora Of Bermuda and Double Rush on 2000 Guineas day at Newmarket.
