Jos Verstappen, the father of renowned Formula One driver Max Verstappen, was fortunate to emerge unharmed from a rally car accident that occurred in Belgium. The incident took place during the Rallye de Wallonie, where Verstappen lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree on the Loyers special stage, prompting his retirement from the event. As reported by the Rallye des Wallonie on social media, the 54-year-old, who is the current national rally champion, was competing in third place before the accident, which was described as a severe departure from the road.
Fortunately, both Verstappen and his co-driver, Jasper Vermeulen, escaped injury, although the vehicle sustained significant damage. Notably, Verstappen was navigating without his usual co-driver, Renaud Jamoul, who was absent due to an ankle surgery.
