Last week, the PING Europe apparel team joined us at the Chevron Championship for the first tentative fitting of uniforms for both players and caddies. This marks the initial step in finalising the look that our contingent will wear when they arrive in the Netherlands.
Our partnership with PING Europe’s clothing division has spanned the last three Solheim Cups, making the coordination process exceptionally smooth. The team is receptive to feedback and eager to tweak fits, fabrics and styles to suit our preferences, ensuring comfort and performance on the course. While the complete outfits will remain a surprise until the squad lands in the Netherlands, I was given an exclusive preview of the accessories we have selected, the materials we have chosen, and the colour palette that will dominate the wardrobe. In addition, a few fun extras are in the pipeline that will add a touch of personality to the overall look.
We are also putting the finishing touches on the official attire for the Gala Dinner, scheduled for Wednesday of Solheim Cup week, as well as the garments that will be worn during the Opening Ceremony. These pieces will blend elegance with practicality, reflecting the prestige of the event while allowing our representatives to move freely. I can already tell a few of them, including my vice‑captains Mel and Carro, will breathe a sigh of relief because we have decided not to introduce a dress component this year, keeping the kit gender‑neutral and functional. Behind the scenes, work continues with ongoing conversations involving players, caddies and the wider support crew. Zoom has become one of my most frequently used tools for these virtual meetings, allowing us to coordinate logistics despite the geographical spread of our team.
The buzz around this Solheim Cup is palpable; it is rare for me to speak with anyone without the tournament being mentioned at least once. Balancing my own tour commitments with the responsibilities of captaincy has been a demanding juggling act, but I have been fortunate to receive strong backing from the Ladies European Tour, the LPGA and my management agency, all of whom have helped me navigate this dual role. Being on this journey alongside the players is precisely why I accepted the captaincy. When I am paired with European teammates during practice rounds, I get a front‑row seat to watch them work inside the ropes, learn their habits, and build rapport.
This close proximity enriches my understanding of the squad and informs the strategic decisions I will need to make during the competition.
