Welcome to the second installment of my Captain’s Corner! This season I am inviting you to accompany me on my journey as the captain of Team Europe for the Solheim Cup, which will be staged in the Netherlands for the first time from September 7 to 13. The golf calendar is already in full swing, and we have just wrapped up the opening major of the year, the Chevron Championship in Texas.
European women golfers performed admirably, with many showing the kind of form that gives us hope for the weeks ahead. Early shifts in the Rolex Rankings reflect the competitive nature of the early season. A variety of players have posted strong numbers, making the race for Solheim Cup spots even more intriguing as we head toward the next quartet of majors, each offering a larger pool of points.

Last week, the PING Europe apparel team joined us at the Chevron Championship for the first possible fitting session for player and caddie attire.
Over the past three Solheim Cups we have worked closely with PING’s European clothing division, and that partnership has streamlined the fitting process. Their team is receptive to feedback, constantly tweaking cuts, fabrics and colour palettes to meet our preferences. The final garments will remain a surprise until the squads arrive in the Netherlands, but I was given a preview of the accessories, material choices and colour schemes we have selected. In addition to the standard uniform, we are developing a few playful extras that should add a touch of personality to the event.
We are also finalising the official ensemble for the Gala Dinner, which takes place on Wednesday of Solheim Cup week, as well as the attire for the Opening Ceremony. Both occasions call for a slightly more formal look, and we are collaborating with a Dutch design firm to ensure the outfits reflect the host nation’s style while still feeling distinctly European. My vice‑captains, Mel and Carro, have expressed gratitude for that decision, and I share their sentiment. Behind the scenes, conversations continue with players, caddies and the broader support crew. Zoom meetings have become a daily staple for coordinating logistics, answering questions and keeping everyone aligned. The excitement surrounding this Solheim Cup is palpable.
It has become almost impossible to have a conversation with anyone in the golf world without the tournament being mentioned at least once. Balancing my responsibilities as a touring professional with the duties of captain has been demanding, yet the support from the Ladies European Tour, the LPGA and my management team has made it manageable. Being on this journey alongside the athletes is precisely why I agreed to take on the role. When I’m paired with European players during practice rounds, I get a front‑row seat to their preparation, their mindset and the camaraderie that defines a Solheim Cup team.
