Last week, the PING Europe apparel team joined us at the Chevron Championship for the first possible fitting of player and caddie attire for the upcoming Solheim Cup. Over the past three Solheim Cups we have worked closely with PING Europe, which has streamlined the fitting process and allowed us to provide immediate feedback on cuts, fabrics and styles. Their willingness to adapt the garments to our preferences has been invaluable. While the final outfits will remain a secret until the teams arrive in the Netherlands, I was given an exclusive preview of the accessories we have selected, the materials we have chosen, and the colour palette that will define the look of Team Europe.
In addition to the core uniform, we are also developing a few surprise elements that will add a touch of excitement for the players and the audience alike. We are currently polishing the official attire for the Gala Dinner, which is scheduled for Wednesday of Solheim Cup week, as well as the ensemble we will wear for the Opening Ceremony. Both events demand a blend of elegance and team spirit, and we are collaborating with a Dutch design firm to ensure the garments reflect the host nation’s heritage while showcasing European flair. Zoom meetings have become a staple of my daily routine, allowing me to stay connected with the squad despite a hectic travel schedule. The buzz around this Solheim Cup is palpable.
It seems impossible to have a conversation about women's golf without the tournament being mentioned. Balancing my own playing commitments with the responsibilities of captaincy has been a demanding juggling act, but the Ladies European Tour, the LPGA and my management team have all provided exceptional support, making the dual role manageable. Being on this journey alongside the competitors is precisely why I accepted the captaincy.
When I am paired with European players during practice rounds, I get a front‑row seat to their preparation, strategy and personality. It deepens my understanding of the team dynamics and helps me make more informed decisions when the pressure cooker of the Solheim Cup ignites.
