This season I am documenting my experience as the European Solheim Cup captain, taking you through every step of the journey up to the championship, which will be held in the Netherlands for the first time from September 7 to September 13. The golf calendar is now in full swing, and we have just wrapped up the opening major of the year, The Chevron Championship in Texas.
A large contingent of European women performed admirably, showcasing the depth and talent that our continent brings to the sport. Early-season shifts in the Rolex Rankings have already begun to materialise, with a variety of players hitting strong form.
As the season progresses and four more majors loom on the horizon, each offering a higher points payout, the picture of our Solheim Cup squad will continue to evolve, making the race for selection all the more intriguing. Last week, the PING Europe apparel team joined us at The Chevron Championship for the first possible fitting of uniforms for both players and caddies. Over the past three Solheim Cups we have worked closely with PING Europe, and that partnership has streamlined the fitting process considerably.
Their designers are receptive to our feedback and are eager to tweak cuts, fabrics and colours so that the final garments meet our exact preferences. Although the final kits will remain a surprise until the teams arrive in the Netherlands, I was given a sneak peek of the accessories we have selected, the materials we have chosen, and the colour palette that will dominate the event.
In addition to the standard attire, we are developing a few playful surprises that will add a touch of personality to the overall look. We are currently finalising the official ensembles for the Gala Dinner, which is scheduled for Wednesday of Solheim Cup week, as well as the outfits that will be worn during the Opening Ceremony. Both occasions call for a slightly more formal aesthetic, and we have partnered with a Dutch design firm to create pieces that reflect the host nation’s style while still honouring the European identity.

Behind the scenes, the work continues unabated. I am in constant contact with players, caddies and the support staff, often via Zoom, which has become an indispensable tool for coordinating logistics, discussing wardrobe details and addressing any concerns that arise.
The buzz around the upcoming Solheim Cup is palpable; it seems impossible to have a conversation without the tournament being mentioned at least once. Balancing my duties as a touring professional with the responsibilities of captaincy has been a demanding but rewarding challenge. I am grateful for the unwavering support from the Ladies European Tour, the LPGA, and my management team, all of whom have helped me navigate the dual role this year. Being on this journey alongside the players is precisely why I accepted the captaincy.
