Welcome to the second edition of my Captain's Corner! This season I am taking you along on my journey as the European Solheim Cup captain, from the early preparations right through to the competition itself, which will be staged in the Netherlands for the first time from September 7 to 13. The golf calendar is already in full swing and we have just wrapped up the opening major of the year, the Chevron Championship in Texas.
A large contingent of European women performed admirably, showcasing the depth and talent that Europe can bring to the Solheim Cup. Early-season shifts in the Rolex Rankings have already begun to reshape the picture. Numerous players have hit strong form, making the race for the final team both unpredictable and exciting. With three more majors on the horizon, each offering a higher points payout, the battle for the last spots on the roster promises to intensify.

Last week at the Chevron Championship we welcomed the PING Europe apparel team for what may be the first ever fitting session for both players and caddies. Over the past three Solheim Cups we have worked closely with PING Europe, and that partnership has streamlined the fitting process. The team is receptive to our feedback and eager to fine‑tune the garments to suit our preferences.
While the final uniforms will remain a surprise until the squads arrive in the Netherlands, I was given a sneak peek of the accessories we have selected, the fabrics we have chosen, and the colour palette that will define our look. There are also a few hidden touches we are developing that should add a bit of extra flair for the event. We are currently polishing the official attire for the gala dinner scheduled for Wednesday of Solheim Cup week, as well as the outfits we will wear for the opening ceremony.
In addition, we are collaborating with a Dutch design firm to produce a special piece that I think the players will love. I can already tell my vice‑captains, Mel and Carro, to breathe a sigh of relief – there will be no dresses this year, which should simplify wardrobe logistics for everyone. Behind the scenes, conversations continue with players, caddies and the broader support crew.
Zoom has become one of my most frequently used tools for these discussions, allowing us to keep the dialogue flowing despite the busy travel schedules. The excitement surrounding this Solheim Cup is palpable.
It feels as though every conversation I have this year inevitably turns to the tournament, and the anticipation is building among everyone involved. Balancing my regular tour commitments with the responsibilities of captain has been a demanding juggling act, but I have been fortunate to receive strong backing from the Ladies European Tour, the LPGA, and my management team.
Their support has been essential as I navigate this dual role. Being on this journey alongside the players is precisely why I agreed to take on the captaincy at this stage of my career. When I am paired with European teammates during practice rounds, I get a front‑row seat to their preparation, their mindset, and the camaraderie that develops within the squad. It is a privilege to watch them from inside the ropes and to get to know each of them personally.
