A new date for the tournament is being explored for later in the year. The state had already paid $3.2 million in accordance with the contract, with LIV Golf expected to return all state incentive funds except for the $2 million invested in upgrades for City Park.
This development comes as LIV Golf faces speculation about its future, including rumors of potential funding losses from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp has hinted at establishing new pathways for LIV Golf players to reinstate their membership, should they wish to return, although analyst Paul McGinley believes these players would face significant 'roadblocks' due to changes in the golf landscape and potential penalties.
