Wessel Nijman has continued his remarkable 2026 campaign by securing his fifth ranking title, and fourth Players Championship, of the year with an 8-5 win over Jermaine Wattimena in the final of Players Championship 12. Nijman, who also won the European Darts Trophy in March, followed up his previous wins at PC2, PC8, and PC10 with this latest triumph. Meanwhile, Beau Greaves, who made history by becoming the first woman to win a PDC ranking title at PC11, was eliminated in the last 16. Andy Bissell, who defeated Greaves 6-0, eventually lost to Nijman in the semi-finals.
The final saw Wattimena initially take control, but Nijman staged a comeback to win six of the next seven legs and seal the victory. 'It was a bit of a nervy final, I went behind after missing some doubles,' Nijman reflected. 'I'm so happy I kept it together, there were some important finishes, like the 57 to go 6-5 up.' Nijman's win sees him break into the world's top 16 for the first time, leapfrogging Wattimena in the process.
