Wessel Nijman has further solidified his impressive start to 2026 by capturing his fifth ranking title of the year at the latest Milton Keynes tournament. This victory marks his fourth Players Championship title, following successes at PC2, PC8, and PC10, in addition to his European Darts Trophy win in March. Nijman secured a convincing 8-5 win over Jermaine Wattimena in the all-Dutch final at Players Championship 12.
Meanwhile, Beau Greaves, who made history by becoming the first woman to win a PDC ranking title at PC11, was eliminated in the last 16. Andy Bissell handed Greaves a 6-0 defeat before proceeding to the quarter-finals, where he eventually lost to Nijman in the semi-finals with a score of 7-4.
The final between Nijman and Wattimena saw the latter initially take the lead, but Nijman rebounded strongly, winning six of the next seven legs to claim the title. Reflecting on his win, Nijman noted the match was nerve-wracking, especially after missing some doubles, but he managed to compose himself and secure the victory. This win propels Nijman into the world's top 16 for the first time, leapfrogging Wattimena in the rankings.
