A large contingent of European women performed admirably, showcasing the depth and talent that Europe can bring to the Solheim Cup. Early-season shifts in the Rolex World Rankings have already begun to take shape, with many players finding good form.
As we move forward, four more majors are looming on the horizon, each offering even more points toward qualification. Last week, the PING Europe apparel team joined us at The Chevron Championship for the first possible fitting session for player and caddie attire. Over the past three Solheim Cups we have worked closely with the PING team, which has made the coordination process seamless. They are receptive to feedback and eager to tweak cuts, fabrics and colours so that everything meets the preferences of our squad.
While the final garments will remain a surprise until the teams arrive in the Netherlands, I was given a sneak peek of the accessories we selected, the materials we chose, and the colour palette that will define our look. In addition to the standard uniform pieces, we have been brainstorming a few fun extras that will add a touch of personality to the overall presentation. We are also finalising the official attire for the Gala Dinner, scheduled for Wednesday of Solheim Cup week, as well as the outfits for the Opening Ceremony.
These events call for a slightly more formal aesthetic, and we are collaborating with a Dutch design firm to create something that reflects both the elegance of the occasion and the spirit of European golf. The collaboration with the Dutch firm has allowed us to design a functional yet stylish uniform that respects the preferences of all participants. Zoom has become one of my most used tools for these discussions, enabling us to keep everyone informed regardless of where they are based. The excitement surrounding this Solheim Cup year is palpable.
It feels as though every conversation I have, whether on the road or at the club, inevitably drifts toward the upcoming event. Balancing my regular tour schedule with captaincy duties has been challenging, but the support from the Ladies European Tour, the LPGA and my management team has been invaluable.
Their assistance has helped me navigate the dual responsibilities of competing and leading. Being on this journey alongside the players is precisely why I volunteered for the captaincy.
When I am paired with European teammates during practice rounds, I get a front‑row seat to their preparation, mindset and camaraderie. It offers a unique perspective that I would not have gained from a purely administrative role.
