Moses Itauma is scheduled to make his comeback on July 25 at the O2 arena in London, with his opponent yet to be announced. This will be Itauma's first fight since his impressive victory over Jermaine Franklin, which propelled him into world championship contention.
The 21-year-old's win led to the WBO declaring him the mandatory challenger for their heavyweight world title. Although Itauma won't be facing the winner of the upcoming title defense by Fabio Wardley against Daniel Dubois on May 9 in his next bout, a successful outing on July 25 could put him in line for a title shot.
Itauma has expressed a preference for facing Dubois, should he emerge victorious, due to his gym-mate relationship with Wardley. Itauma previously stated, 'If Fabio wins, it'll be complicated, but if Dubois wins, that fight makes sense.' Both Wardley and Dubois witnessed Itauma's dominant performance against Franklin, leaving a lasting impression. Itauma believes that despite their outward confidence, both fighters are aware of the threat he poses, saying, 'I think deep down they had the same reaction, but Fabio managed to hide it better.'
