At just 15 years old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made history by becoming the youngest player and the fastest by balls faced to reach 1,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved this remarkable feat while playing in the Indian Premier League, hitting a stunning 36-ball century. Sooryavanshi's incredible innings included 12 sixes and five boundaries, marking his second century in the IPL.
He reached this milestone in just 473 balls, surpassing the previous record held by Australia's Mitchell Owen, who had achieved 1,000 runs in 533 balls. The teenager's century is also the third-fastest in IPL history, following Chris Gayle's 30-ball ton in 2013 and Sooryavanshi's own 35-ball hundred last year. Sooryavanshi attributed his success to playing according to the ball and backing his game. He also revealed that he thinks about the opposing team's bowlers and visualizes his shots before facing them.
This season, Sooryavanshi has been in exceptional form, having earlier scored two 15-ball fifties against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Although he fell at 103 off 37 balls, his contribution helped Rajasthan post 228-6.
Hyderabad successfully chased down the target with nine balls to spare, thanks to half-centuries from Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma. Both Hyderabad and Rajasthan are currently on 10 points, four points ahead of fifth-placed Chennai in the race to finish in the top four and progress to the playoffs.
