The PGA of America has officially confirmed Jim Furyk as the captain of Team USA for the 2027 Ryder Cup, set to take place at Adare Manor in Ireland. Furyk, 55, becomes one of only four US captains to have led the team on multiple occasions since 1979.
He previously captained the team at the 2018 Ryder Cup in Paris, where the US lost to Europe. Furyk has been involved in every US Ryder Cup team for the past 30 years, either as a player or vice-captain. His appointment comes after Tiger Woods ruled himself out of consideration for the role.
Furyk expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, stating that his passion for the Ryder Cup and dedication to the US team have never been stronger. He aims to draw on his experience while incorporating new ideas to help the team succeed in 2027.
Furyk made his playing debut in 1997 and went on to feature in nine consecutive tournaments, including two winning sides and seven losing teams. He has also served as a vice-captain in 2016, 2021, 2023, and 2025. The 2003 US Open champion is committed to putting his players in the best position to succeed as they work to reclaim the Cup on European soil.
