World-renowned sprinter Usain Bolt has advised Australian teenage sprint sensation Gout Gout to remain committed to his athletic pursuits amidst the distractions that come with fame. At a young age, Gout is already being compared to the legendary Jamaican sprinter and is being touted as a potential gold medal winner when the Olympics come to Brisbane in 2032.
Recently, Gout emerged victorious in the 200 meters at the Australian Athletics Championships with a time of 19.67 seconds, and also won the Under-20 100m event in 10.21 seconds. As the world record holder in the 200m and 100m sprint events, Bolt cautioned Gout about the potential pitfalls of fame, stating, 'At that age, you're pulled in different directions, and it's easy to lose sight of your athletic goals.' Bolt expressed his hope that Gout has a strong support system to help him stay on track. Gout is set to make his Diamond League debut in the 200m in Oslo, where he will compete against reigning Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo of Botswana.
He has chosen to skip the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow to focus on the World Under-20 Championships in Oregon, scheduled for August.
