The England Boxing National Amateur Championships showcased the sport's rising talents, with Ruby White claiming her first senior national title in the flyweight division. White, a World U19 champion and four-time European champion, defeated Madi Gittens of Box Club in the elite finals in Derby. Her victory marked her 60th consecutive win, with White stating, 'I'm over the moon. I think I proved a lot of people wrong being a first year senior and winning this tournament.' She attributed her success to her unwavering dedication and willpower.
Other notable winners included Billy Macey, who became a two-time national champion in the men's flyweight division, and Adekali Kargbo, who dethroned reigning 90kg champion Akinola Tijani. The tournament also featured impressive performances from Clinton Achusim, Amo Singh, and Joe Turner, who all secured titles in their respective divisions. The event served as a precursor to the World Boxing Cup in Brazil, where a squad of GB boxers, including Sacha Hickey, Lauren Mackie, and Chantelle Reid, will compete.
