According to Sky Sports Tennis analyst Laura Robson, Jack Draper should avoid competing in the French Open without sufficient preparation. Draper recently withdrew from upcoming ATP events in Madrid and Rome due to a knee injury. He retired from the Barcelona Open first-round match against Tomas Martin Etcheverry last Monday.
Despite this setback, Draper aims to participate in the French Open, the year's second Grand Slam, in May. Robson believes it's crucial for Draper to get some practice before the tournament, as entering a best-of-five match situation underprepared can be detrimental. Draper is expected to target events in Hamburg or Geneva, the week before the French Open, to get some much-needed practice.
Meanwhile, fellow Brit Emma Raducanu has also withdrawn from the Madrid Open as she continues to recover from post-viral symptoms. Raducanu has been out of action since her defeat to Amanda Anisimova in the third round at Indian Wells on March 8. Robson expressed that Raducanu's return to action is uncertain, and it's essential for her to prioritize her rehabilitation and wait until she's fully fit before competing again.
