Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarrell Quansah has stated that leaving Liverpool for the German club was a straightforward choice. The 23-year-old made the move last summer in a £35m deal, seeking more playing time after coming through Liverpool's academy and making 58 appearances for the first team.
Quansah signed a five-year contract with Leverkusen and has since made 38 appearances this season. He explained to Sky Sports News that the Leverkusen management's approach and clear plan for him made the decision easy. "They had a lot of detail about what they'd seen in me and the potential they thought I could reach, which aligned with my own thoughts," he said.
Quansah added that he wanted to play at the top level and felt the Bundesliga and Champions League would provide him with the opportunity to do so. He also discussed his departure from Liverpool, saying he trusted his instincts and took time to reflect on what was best for his career. Quansah is now focused on the remaining games of the season and hopes to make England's World Cup squad.
After withdrawing from the latest selection due to injury, he aims to "attack" the remaining games and prove himself on the pitch.
