Gerwyn Price has become the second player in history to win 10 European darts titles, joining Michael van Gerwen in this elite group. Price secured his 10th title by defeating Ross Smith 8-6 in the European Darts Grand Prix final in Sindelfingen, Germany. This historic win marks a significant milestone for Price, who is now looking to build on this momentum as he faces Gian van Veen in the Premier League Darts.
The final was closely contested, with Price initially taking a 3-0 lead, only for Smith to level the match at 3-3 with two breaks of his own. The turning point came in the 11th leg, where Price found another break of throw, moving 6-5 ahead.
Price then held his throw well and sealed the win on D12. Reflecting on the game, Price noted that both he and Smith may have tried too hard, but he was relieved to have come out on top. Price's path to the final included a strong 7-4 win over Wessel Nijman and a thrilling 6-5 last-leg victory against Martin Schindler. Smith, on the other hand, reached the final with a 7-5 win over Krzysztof Ratajski.
The tournament also saw notable performances from other players, including Nijman's first-ever win over Michael van Gerwen. Price is now focused on his upcoming match against Gian van Veen in the Premier League Darts, aiming to carry his winning momentum forward.
