Jon Rahm wrapped up a tumultuous week on the LIV Golf tour by carding a 7-under 64 on Sunday, earning him a six-stroke victory at the LIV Golf Mexico City event, marking his second win this year on the Saudi-backed circuit. The week was marked by uncertainty surrounding the tour's financial stability, prompting CEO Scott O'Neil to send a memo to staff assuring them that funding was secured through the end of the year. This move aimed to alleviate growing concerns about the league's future. Reports had surfaced that the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) was planning to withdraw its financial support for the tour.

A power outage on Tuesday and a two-hour streaming disruption during the opening round further fueled speculation about the tour's stability. Despite the uncertainty, LIV Golf announced that it would return to the Chapultepec Golf Club next year. Rahm, who failed to win last season but claimed the points title, had previously experienced disappointment at Chapultepec in 2017 during a World Golf Championship event.

This time, however, he left no doubt about the outcome after making a birdie on the par-4 second hole and then scoring an eagle on the next, playing bogey-free throughout. Rahm expressed his surprise at the victory, stating, 'If you'd told me last Thursday that I'd be winning by six shots, I wouldn't have believed you, given how poorly I played.' He had tied for 38th in the Masters. Bryson DeChambeau withdrew from the final round due to a wrist injury, citing concerns about aggravating the condition.

At the time of his withdrawal, he was 16 shots behind Rahm. DeChambeau, who was attempting to become the first player to win three consecutive LIV Golf events, announced his withdrawal on social media, saying, 'I experienced some discomfort in my wrist during yesterday's round and have decided to withdraw from the final round to prevent further injury.' He hopes to be evaluated and return for the LIV Golf Virginia event on May 7-10, just before the PGA Championship.

Rahm's victory was accompanied by the success of his Legion XIII team, which secured its first win of the year. David Puig finished second with a 66, earning valuable world ranking points and virtually guaranteeing his spot in the PGA Championship. Another strong finish in Virginia could potentially qualify him for the US Open. The next LIV Golf League event is scheduled to take place from May 7-10 at Trump National Golf Club in Washington DC.
