Bromley's pursuit of a League One promotion has been delayed further after they were held to a goalless draw by Cambridge United at Hayes Lane. The visitors had the better of the early chances, with Ben Knight and Dominic Ball both missing opportunities to open the scoring within the first 15 minutes. Knight failed to convert when one-on-one with goalkeeper Grant Smith, while Ball's shot from Liam Bennett's cross went narrowly wide. Bromley's first sight of goal came after 25 minutes, but Omar Sownunmi's header bounced over the bar with Jack Walton beaten.
Cambridge continued to threaten, with Shayne Lavery hitting the bar from Adam Mayor's cross on the half-hour mark. The second half was slow to get going, but Knight's powerful drive on the angle drew a sharp save from Smith. This sparked the hosts into life, with Ben Thompson and Jude Arthurs both having efforts saved or deflected over. With 10 minutes remaining, Grant Smith made a superb save to tip Kelland Watts' header over, but neither side could find a breakthrough despite a late goalmouth scramble.
The result leaves Bromley still chasing promotion, while Cambridge remain in the hunt for a top-seven finish.
