Manchester City is providing support to forward Antoine Semenyo following his recent experience of racial abuse. The 26-year-old Ghana international took to Instagram to share his distress, posting 'It's started again' along with a screenshot of a disturbing comment.
This incident comes after Semenyo faced racial abuse during the season's opening match against Liverpool, while playing for his former team Bournemouth. The perpetrator, Mark Mogan, was arrested and charged with a racially aggravated public order offense.
In response to the latest incident, the Premier League expressed its strong disapproval, stating that racism has no place in the sport or society, and vowed to work with clubs, law enforcement, and social media companies to address the issue. The FA also condemned the abuse, emphasizing the need for collective action to combat racism and ensure severe consequences for those found guilty of discrimination.
