Red Bull has unveiled a significant overhaul of its technical department, aiming to bolster its emphasis on performance and innovation. Ben Waterhouse, who has been with the team since 2017 as head of performance engineering, will assume an expanded leadership role as chief performance and design engineer, reporting directly to technical director Pierre Wache. Waterhouse's new position will oversee design and vehicle performance, allowing for greater integration between these areas and accelerating the development of high-performance solutions. Meanwhile, Andrea Landi will join the team from Racing Bulls on July 1 as head of performance, bringing experience from his previous roles, including deputy technical director at Racing Bulls and deputy head of vehicle performance at Ferrari.
Landi will report to Waterhouse. The changes are part of Red Bull's long-term technical strategy, focusing on internal talent development and attracting top expertise from the sport. The team has faced a challenging start to the new F1 era, currently sitting sixth in the Constructors' Championship, and has seen several key staff members leave for rival teams in recent years.
