In a bid to address driver concerns over safety and competition, Formula 1 officials have introduced a series of regulatory tweaks for the 2026 season. The changes, agreed upon during a meeting between F1 stakeholders, team principals, and engine manufacturers, aim to encourage more aggressive driving by reducing the need for drivers to lift and coast. Key revisions include adjustments to energy harvesting and deployment limits during qualifying, as well as the implementation of measures to improve safety during races, such as capping boosts and limiting power deployment in corners. Additionally, the start procedure will be modified to minimize hazards on the grid, and new regulations for wet weather conditions have been introduced to enhance safety.
The revisions follow extensive consultations with drivers and technical representatives, and are set to be implemented ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.
