This draw allows Charlton to move six points clear of the relegation zone with just three games remaining, while Wednesday remains unbeaten in their last three games, ending their season on a positive note. The first half saw both teams create scoring opportunities, with Godden heading wide from an offside position and Max Lowe dragging his shot wide.
Charlton captain Greg Docherty had a shot at goal pushed away by keeper Pierce Charles. The visitors were denied a penalty claim when Tayo Adaramola was fouled just outside the box. Godden's acrobatic effort hit the crossbar on the stroke of half-time, but he was not to be denied for long.
