Following the 2-1 loss to Bournemouth, Sky Sports News has learned that Howe's fate remains a topic for discussion at the end of the campaign, with no immediate action planned. Currently, Newcastle has no intention of replacing their head coach, but a routine end-of-season review will be conducted. CEO David Hopkinson stated after the Sunderland game that it was not the right time to discuss Howe's future, and this stance remains unchanged. "I don't have a stance on his future," Hopkinson said. "Eddie's our manager. I expect to have a great run to the end of the season here and we'll talk about the future when it's time." Since the Sunderland game, Newcastle has suffered two more defeats, against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, increasing pressure on Howe. The team sits 14th in the Premier League table, which would be their lowest finish since the 2015/16 season. They are 13 points behind the Champions League spots and six points off the other European spots. According to Sky Sports News' Keith Downie, the situation has not changed since the Bournemouth game, but there is uncertainty among fans about whether they want Eddie Howe to remain in charge. Downie stated, "It feels like it's about 50-50 within the fanbase as to whether they want Eddie Howe to remain in charge." The team's performance has been poor, with four defeats in a row and eight defeats from 11 matches. Downie added, "I don't think PIF will make any knee-jerk reactions. They'll look at the situation at the end of the season, but so will Howe himself and question whether he is ready to go again." There are questions about whether Howe will stay at the club in the long term, but an answer will not be available until the end of the season. Up to nine players may leave the team this summer, which would require another rebuilding job.
