American boxer Alycia Baumgardner believes that Caroline Dubois needs to further establish herself as a champion before a potential fight between the two can take place. Baumgardner is set to defend her unified WBA, WBO, and IBF super-featherweight world titles against Bo Mi Re Shin. Dubois recently won the WBC and WBO lightweight world championship and has expressed interest in facing Baumgardner. However, Baumgardner thinks Dubois should focus on solidifying her position as a champion before calling her out.
Baumgardner stated, 'Every fight is a potential fight, but Caroline needs to continue building her reputation as a champion.' Baumgardner also mentioned that she has done her part in becoming undisputed and now it's Dubois' turn to put in the work. Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promoters, suggested that Dubois should focus on becoming close to undisputed in her division before pursuing a fight with Baumgardner.
Meanwhile, Baumgardner could potentially become the undisputed champion at super-featherweight again, with WBC belt-holder Caroline Veyre expressing interest in a fight against her.
