Robson Warns Draper Against Entering French Open Underprepared

According to Sky Sports Tennis analyst Laura Robson, Jack Draper should avoid competing in the French Open without adequate preparation. Draper recently withdrew from upcoming ATP events in Madrid and Rome due to a knee injury. He had previously retired from the Barcelona Open first-round clash against Tomas Martin Etcheverry because of the same issue. Despite being set to drop out of the top 40 in the rankings, Robson views this as positive news for Draper, who had been dealing with a long-standing elbow issue that kept him out for most of the 2025 season. Draper is now targeting the French Open, and Robson believes it's crucial for him to get some practice beforehand to avoid being 'undercooked.' Last month, Draper made an impressive comeback in Indian Wells, beating Novak Djokovic before losing to Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-finals. Robson attributes Draper's current knee issue to overcompensation during his recovery from the elbow problem. Draper is expected to participate in events in Hamburg or Geneva to get some much-needed practice before the French Open. Meanwhile, fellow Brit Emma Raducanu has also withdrawn from the Madrid Open as she continues to recover from post-viral symptoms. Raducanu, who last played in Indian Wells on March 8, is back in training and hopes to play in Rome at the start of May. Her coaching situation has been affected by her health issues, and she has reunited with coach Mark Petchey on an ad-hoc basis while working with hitting partner Alexis Canter.
