Joel Tomkins Leaves Catalans Dragons Due to Personal Circumstances

Joel Tomkins has announced his decision to step down as head coach of Catalans Dragons, citing personal reasons. Tomkins, who held the position for nearly a year, found it challenging to be away from his family and made the decision to leave after a recent period back home. Initially appointed as an interim coach, Tomkins was later given the permanent role but has now chosen to depart after seven games into the Super League season, with the team currently sixth in the table. In a statement, Tomkins expressed his gratitude for the experiences and friendships gained during his time at the club, acknowledging that he has grown both personally and professionally. However, the strain of living away from his family for an extended period ultimately led to his decision to leave. Tomkins will be replaced by Ryan Sheridan, who will take over as interim head coach alongside assistants Micky McIlorum and Mitchell Pearce, starting with their next game against Warrington Wolves on April 18.
