Bournemouth had attempted to persuade Iraola to stay, but he had been approached by his former club, Athletic Club, and other Premier League teams. The search for a new head coach has been ongoing, with three favored candidates on the shortlist. Bournemouth is currently 11th in the league and still has a chance to qualify for European competition. Iraola has been a popular figure at the club since his appointment in June 2023, implementing an attacking style of football.
