In a bid to address driver concerns over safety and competition, Formula 1 authorities have announced a series of regulatory tweaks for the 2026 season. These changes, agreed upon during a meeting between F1 stakeholders, team principals, and engine manufacturers, aim to encourage more intense driving by allowing drivers to push their cars closer to the limit. Key updates include modifications to energy harvesting and deployment limits during qualifying, as well as adjustments to power deployment in races to enhance safety.
Additionally, the start procedure will be revised to minimize hazards on the grid, and new regulations for wet weather conditions have been introduced to prioritize driver safety. These updates follow extensive consultations with drivers and technical representatives, and data analysis from the first three events of the 2026 season.
The changes are set to be implemented ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, pending final approval from the World Motor Sport Council.
