However, Whyte believes Joshua is returning to boxing prematurely after his recent car accident in Nigeria, which resulted in the loss of two close friends. Following his victory over Derek Chisora, Wilder expressed interest in facing Joshua, while Whyte downplayed the likelihood of a rematch against his old rival. Whyte stated, 'I would love it, but no one's mentioned it to me, and I don't think AJ is considering it. He's probably looking to fight Deontay Wilder now, which makes sense.' Whyte predicts that if Joshua were to fight Wilder, he would emerge victorious and potentially knock Wilder out. A meeting between Joshua and Wilder could jeopardize plans for a highly anticipated all-British heavyweight bout against Tyson Fury later this year. Whyte thinks Joshua should allow himself more time to recover, saying, 'I think he's getting back in the ring too soon. He needs time to process and come to terms with what's happened.'
