Joel Tomkins has announced his decision to resign as head coach of Catalans Dragons, citing personal reasons. Tomkins, who had been in the role for nearly a year, stated that being away from his family had taken a toll on him. After a recent period at home, he made the decision to step down, leaving the team sixth in the Super League standings after seven games. Initially appointed as an interim coach, Tomkins was later given the permanent position at the club where he spent the latter part of his playing career. He expressed gratitude for the experience, stating, 'I've learned a lot, both personally and professionally, and I appreciate the friendships and experiences I've gained.' However, he noted that the distance from his family had become too difficult to manage. Following his departure, Ryan Sheridan will assume the role of interim head coach, assisted by Micky McIlorum and Mitchell Pearce, starting with their upcoming match against the Warrington Wolves on April 18.
