Red Bull has unveiled a series of changes within its technical department, aimed at bolstering its emphasis on performance and innovation. Ben Waterhouse, a key figure in the team since 2017 as head of performance engineering, will assume an expanded leadership role as chief performance and design engineer, reporting directly to technical director Pierre Wache. Waterhouse's new position will oversee both design and vehicle performance, which Red Bull believes will enhance integration between these areas and expedite the development of competitive solutions.
The team has also announced the appointment of Andrea Landi, who will join from Racing Bulls on July 1 as head of performance. Landi, previously deputy technical director at Racing Bulls and former deputy head of vehicle performance at Ferrari, will report to Waterhouse.
According to a statement from Red Bull, these changes are part of the team's long-term technical strategy, underscoring its commitment to nurturing internal talent while attracting top expertise from across the sport. Following a challenging start to the new era of F1 regulations, Red Bull currently sits sixth in the Constructors' Championship, 119 points behind leaders Mercedes.
The team has faced significant staff departures in recent years, with key members joining rival teams. The F1 season resumes on May 1-3 with the Miami Grand Prix.
