Pattinson's Journey Back to the Top
Cyrus Pattinson is on a mission to revive his career as he prepares to fight in Newcastle this Saturday. A former top GB amateur boxer, Pattinson was on the verge of qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games before turning pro in 2021. He won his first six fights, establishing himself as a fan favorite in the North East. However, a thrilling win over former British champion Chris Jenkins was followed by a loss to Conah Walker in 2023, which marked a low point in his career. Pattinson found himself without a promoter, manager, or trainer, and was struggling with a severe eye injury that threatened to end his career. He has since found a new lease on life under the guidance of trainer Billy Nelson in Glasgow. With three consecutive wins under his belt, Pattinson is now set to face Tunde Segun Adeyemi at the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle. "I've got a tough opponent in front of me, but I'm always up for a challenge," Pattinson said. "I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I'll give it my all to win." Pattinson's loss to Walker has been put into perspective, with Walker going on to excel in the welterweight division. "I know I'm capable of beating anyone," Pattinson said. "It's only a matter of time before I'm back in the mix." After his next fight, Pattinson plans to target the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles. His trainer, Billy Nelson, is confident in Pattinson's abilities, saying, "He's a consummate professional, and I'm more than confident that he can compete at the domestic level." Pattinson remains focused on his upcoming fight, but is eager to challenge for titles in the long term. "I'm an asset to any promoter, and I know I can win those belts," he said. "I trust myself, and as long as I stay true to myself, that's all that matters."
