The stage is set for a thrilling day of racing at Newbury, headlined by the Greenham Stakes at 2 pm. Eight talented horses will compete in this highly anticipated event, with Zavateri and Albert Einstein being the main attractions.
Zavateri, trained by Eve Johnson Houghton, had a remarkable two-year-old campaign, winning two Group 2 races and the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh. He is making his seasonal debut here before potentially competing in the Irish 2,000 Guineas. On the other hand, Albert Einstein, trained by Aidan O'Brien, is on a mission to redeem himself after a disappointing performance in his seasonal debut at the Curragh three weeks ago.
O'Brien still has faith in his three-year-old star, who will be racing with a first-time hood. Other notable contenders include Coolmore's Title Role, trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, who won the Jumeirah 2000 Guineas at Meydan, and the unbeaten Gonna Fly and Alparslan.
The opening race at Newbury features a field of 15 horses competing in the Fred Darling Stakes, with Touleen looking to test her 1000 Guineas credentials. The John Porter Stakes, a Group 3 contest over twelve furlongs, boasts a classy field of seven, with Karl Burke's Convergent being the one to beat. The ultra-competitive Win Unique Experiences At OLBG Prizes Spring Cup Handicap will see 26 horses competing, while the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships "Confined" Maiden Stakes has attracted 25 runners. The Too Darn Hot Darley "Confined" EBF Maiden Stakes features the highly touted Glory Of The Seas, who has entries in the Dante, Derby, and Irish Derby.
