Nijman Secures Fourth Ranking Title of 2026

Wessel Nijman continued his impressive start to 2026, claiming his fourth ranking title of the year with a dominant victory at Players Championship 10 in Wigan. Nijman defeated former Grand Slam of Darts champion Scott Waites 8-2 in the final, reclaiming top spot in the Players Championship rankings. His path to victory included a series of strong performances, starting with a hard-fought win over Martin Lukeman and culminating in a blistering display against Waites. Nijman averaged over 109 in his demolition of Adam Gawlas and followed up with strong showings against Niels Zonneveld and Beau Greaves. In the final, he capitalized on Waites' slow start to establish an early lead, ultimately triumphing with a 101.34 average. Nijman reflected on his performance, stating it was 'probably the best floor event I've played all year.' He is now targeting more silverware in the European Darts Grand Prix and aims to break into the top 16 on the PDC Werner Rankings Ladder. The Dutchman's success follows his maiden big-stage win at the European Darts Trophy last month. Elsewhere, Beau Greaves impressed with back-to-back quarter-finals, beating notable opponents including Martin Schindler and Cameron Menzies.
