Nijman Claims Fourth Ranking Title of 2026 with Dominant Display
Dutch darts sensation Wessel Nijman continued his impressive start to 2026, capturing his fourth ranking title of the year at the Players Championship 10 in Wigan. Nijman's victory over former Grand Slam of Darts champion Scott Waites in the final solidified his position at the top of the Players Championship rankings. The 25-year-old's path to the title was marked by a series of dominant performances, including a 12-darter to lead 3-1 in the final and a 101.34 average to seal the win. Nijman, who averaged almost 110 in a demolition of Adam Gawlas, expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating, 'Today was probably the best floor event I've played all year.' He also broke new ground with a maiden big-stage success at last month's European Darts Trophy and is now targeting more silverware in the upcoming European Darts Grand Prix. Nijman's victory also saw him climb to 18th on the PDC Werner Rankings Ladder, with the top 16 now firmly in his sights.
