Atang: I Must Meet Expectations Set by Moses Itauma's Achievements

As a top heavyweight prospect, Leo Atang is under pressure to perform. However, Atang, 19, is determined to forge his own path. With a 100% knockout ratio in his five professional fights, he is a promising talent, but he's keen to point out that his progression will be different from Itauma's. "I'm not trying to be the next anyone, I'm going to be myself," Atang told Sky Sports. "Everyone moves at different rates, different speeds." Atang intends to plot his own course to the top of the heavyweight division, which may eventually involve a showdown with Itauma. "Of course, it'll happen, but when the time's right. There's no rush for either of us. We can wait and build our names, and when the time's right, it'll be a massive fight," he said. Atang feels that he's had to work harder to prove himself, as he's had to live up to the expectations set by Itauma's achievements. "I've almost got to do it in his shadow, I've got to live up to what he's done. So I've also really had that pressure on me from the start, I feel like," he added. Atang's goal is to become a world champion, and he's confident that he's on the right path. "I know I'm not where I need to be to be calling out big names, but when it's time, it's going to make it a lot more fun to get into some big fights in the heavyweight division," he said.
