Bournemouth has officially appointed Marco Rose as the successor to Andoni Iraola, with Rose set to take the reins in the summer on a three-year contract. This move allows both the incoming coach and the club to prepare for the next season, following Iraola's announcement that he will be leaving the club when his contract expires.
Iraola had revealed his decision to depart after a three-year tenure as head coach. Prior to the appointment, Sky Sports News had identified Rose, the former RB Leipzig boss, as the top candidate to replace Iraola due to their shared footballing philosophy.
Rose, 49, has been out of management since his departure from RB Leipzig in March 2025 and has previously worked with Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Red Bull Salzburg. The club emphasized that their immediate focus remains on concluding the current campaign strongly, with the team currently on a 13-game unbeaten run.
Rose's appointment has been praised, given his tactical and complete style of football, which aligns with Iraola's admiration for German football and its emphasis on every player contributing to both attacking and defending. With Bournemouth potentially qualifying for Europe, the decision to appoint Rose has been seen as a sensible move, made from a position of strength.
