As per Nigel Mansell, a former Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton has regained his competitive edge this season. Following a 16-month drought without an F1 podium, Hamilton secured a third-place finish at the Chinese Grand Prix, marking his first podium since joining Ferrari in 2025.
The 41-year-old has also shown significant improvement in pace compared to his teammate Charles Leclerc, having struggled with the previous generation of F1 cars. The new regulations seem to favor Hamilton's driving style, and Mansell believes the seven-time world champion could potentially win a race this season. "Lewis has been revitalized and is fired up again, which is fantastic given his brilliant career," Mansell stated. Hamilton attributes his return to form to better mental and physical preparation.
He noted that the new car is more suited to his driving style, having had input in its development. Mansell thinks Mercedes is currently at the forefront, but Ferrari and McLaren are also strong contenders.
The F1 season continues on May 1-3 with the Miami Grand Prix.
