Abdo expressed his belief in the globalization of rugby league, citing the success of the Ashes tour and the synergy between English and Australian fans. He emphasized the importance of good governance, access to capital, and the ability to execute in any successful business, including sports. The NRL is hopeful for independent decision-making in the Super League, similar to the Australian Rugby League Commission.
Abdo noted that the trip was about listening, learning, and understanding the complex stakeholder landscape in the UK, which differs from Australia. Abdo stressed that the goal is a partnership to grow the game, increase revenues, and reinvest those revenues back into the sport.
