Norris Unveils McLaren's Strategy to Claim the Title

Lando Norris is confident that McLaren can still mount a strong defense of their world titles when the F1 season resumes at the Miami Grand Prix, despite the strong starts of Mercedes and Ferrari in the new era of the sport. The reigning champion had a slow start to his title defense, failing to secure a podium finish in the first three races. However, his teammate Oscar Piastri finished second in Japan, which could have been a win if not for the Safety Car. With almost five weeks to work on their cars, Norris believes there is still time to turn things around. 'I think we can have a good season, even if we're not where we want to be right now,' he said. Norris trails early championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 47 points but remains determined to push hard for the championship. He emphasized that giving up and focusing on next year is not an option, citing past examples where the team has overcome slow starts to finish strong. Norris identified addressing reliability issues with their car and Mercedes power unit as a key area of focus. He noted that tiny margins can make significant differences and that the team needs to keep working to develop a car capable of winning every weekend. Teammate Piastri also expressed confidence in the team's ability to close the gap to Mercedes and out-develop the field, citing the team's past ability to turn things around.
