Manchester United Edging Closer to Securing Mainoo's Future

Manchester United's manager, Michael Carrick, has expressed optimism that the club is nearing a new contract agreement with midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. Following reports in March that both Mainoo and Harry Maguire were close to signing new deals, with the latter's contract announcement made last week, Carrick confirmed that negotiations with Mainoo are progressing. The proposed five-year contract, set to run until 2031, would mark a significant pay rise for the 20-year-old, reflecting his growth and current status within the team. Carrick stated, 'We're positive with that. We're calm with it, but we're positive, and only time will tell how it will go. But we're in a good place with him.' Mainoo's future at the club had previously been uncertain under former head coach Ruben Amorim, but since Carrick took over, he has featured in every Premier League match and was recently included in Thomas Tuchel's England squad. The potential signing of a new deal would signify a major turnaround in Mainoo's fortunes at Old Trafford. With Carrick's own future at the club still unresolved, he has made a strong case for becoming the permanent manager, having led the team to seven wins in ten games and lifting them to third in the Premier League.
