Hull FC Exit Leaves Coach Cartwright Feeling Betrayed

Former Hull FC head coach John Cartwright expressed feeling "betrayed and disrespected" following the confirmation of his departure from the club. The announcement, made on April 7, stated that Cartwright would be leaving at the end of the current Betfred Super League season. Despite this, Cartwright claims he has yet to receive an explanation for the decision. In an interview, Cartwright stated, "I still haven't been given a reason, to be honest with you. I don't know. I have asked and I expect to sit down with someone in the not-too-distant future." Cartwright, who took over at the start of the 2025 campaign, led the team to a seventh-placed finish, their highest since 2020. With the club already seeking a new coach for the 2027 season, Cartwright emphasized his commitment to his role, saying, "I'll still do my job. I won't do anything that will put that at risk." The team currently sits ninth in Super League, with three wins and four defeats from their first seven matches.
