Renowned Canadian cruiserweight Ryan Rozicki, also known as 'The Bruiser', has inked a multi-fight contract with Zuffa Boxing, bolstering their already impressive cruiserweight division. This division boasts an array of talented fighters, including champion Jai Opetaia, former world titleholder Chris Billam-Smith, and top contender Brandon Glanton. Rozicki has garnered attention for his exceptional punching power, with 21 of his professional wins resulting in knockouts, all but one of which occurred before the final bell. His sole loss was to seasoned heavyweight contender Oscar Rivas in 2021, via decision.
Rivas himself has only suffered a loss at the hands of Dillian Whyte. Following the setback against Rivas, Rozicki has remained unbeaten in his subsequent nine fights, frequently performing in front of packed audiences in Nova Scotia.
Notably, he once competed for the WBC interim title, resulting in a draw against Yamil Alberto Peralta in their 2024 rematch. One of his notable victories includes a win against Olanrewaju Durodola, who had previously gone the distance with formidable opponents like Richard Riakporhe and Ilunga Makabu in a world title bout. Rozicki's most recent fight took place in March, where he secured a second-round knockout against Gerardo Mellado.
Expressing his enthusiasm for this new chapter, Rozicki stated, 'I'm thrilled about this opportunity and being part of Zuffa's vision. My team has worked tirelessly to get me to this point, ensuring everything is in place for me to excel at the highest level. This platform is massive, and I'm eager to put in the work and make a lasting impression.' The details of Rozicki's inaugural fight with Zuffa Boxing are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
